Champions League Previews

Tonight sees the return of the Champions League and what a first night of action it is. The draw has produced some cracking groups and tonight’s match ups are sure not to disappoint. Here is a quick roundup of all 8 of Tuesday matches with links to full write ups and betting previews.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have won this competition a record 10 times and they will kickstart their campaign at the Bernabeu against Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk. Manager Rafa Benitez won this trophy back in 2005 with Liverpool and will be hoping to lead Madrid to the trophy in his first season in charge at Los Blancos. Donetsk could not face a trickier task for their first game and will be hoping that Alex Teixeira can carry on his League form this season having already found the net on 9 occasions. For the full match preview click here.

 

2014 runners up Atletico Madrid face a tricky task when they travel to Turkish club Galatasaray for their first match of the campaign. Atletico will be expected to qualify from this group alongside either Benfica or Galatasaray. Gala however possess Champions League veterans Lukas Podolski and Wesley Sneijder and they could be more than a handful for Diego Simeone’s men. For the full match preview click here.

 

French champions PSG will be looking to go one step further this season and will no doubt have a Champions League final firmly within their sights. Manchester United return to the Champions League after a 1 year absence and their first match is a tricky encounter against Dutch champions PSV. A big talking point in the game is the return of Manchester United starlet Memphis Depay who switched from PSV in the summer transfer window. Read the full match preview here.

Last years Champions League runners up Juventus will travel to Premier League high flyers Manchester City for the first game of the group stage. Juventus have so far managed just 1 point from their opening 3 fixtures in Serie A and look a shadow of the team that came won Serie A last season. Last years Europa League winners Sevilla return to the Champions League and face an out of sorts Borussia Monchengladbach.
